1. How to delete a manually inserted page-break

  1. Click on the cell where the page break occurs (note that page breaks are drawn on the right and bottom edge of a cell).
  2. Select Insert/Page Break
  3. Clear the vertical or horizontal checkboxes (or both).

2. Black cells appears black after import from Excel

Excel allows two colours to be mixed together to form a pattern fill for a cell. Ebuyer Office Suite only supports a single flat colour - so we chose to import the colour from Excel that is set as background, which is usually fine.

However, if the Excel user mixes 75% white onto a black background (a sort of grey in Excel) Ebuyer Office Suite only imports the background, e.g. 100% black. Note that some versions of Excel allow a black background with a 100% white over the top - resulting in a white cell (crazy but true). If this apparantly normal cell is imported, you'll get a surprise.

The solution is either:

  • In Excel, choose a flat colour, or better mix of colours (100% white over black makes no sense, 25% black on white background would import better than 75% black on white background).

    or

  • In Ebuyer Office Suite, select Format/Cells/Colour and set the affected cells to white (or whatever colour suits).

3. Cannot get loadAPR template to work correctly

There was an error in shipped template. Please follow these instructions:

  1. Right-click over the link below:
    loadAPR.ast
  2. Select Save Target As
  3. Change the save in folder to c:\program files\Ebuyer Office Suite\templates (might need adjustment if you installed Ebuyer Office Suite to a different folder).
  4. When prompted, select Yes to replace original.

Note 1 - please use latest update with this template - see Start/Programs/Ebuyer Office Suite/Tools/Check for Updates.

Note 2 - this template is heavy calculationally. It may be slow to open (but OK once opened)

4. How to turn on/off the spreadsheet grid (and other display properties)

On Screen View

  • The default setting for the spreadsheet grid (and other spreadsheet display options) is controlled in Tools/Options/View dialog.
  • The Spreadsheet grid can be toggled on and off with the Grid command from the View menu - but this is only a temporary setting and does not affect the default.

Print

  • The printing of the grid (and other print properties) can be set for each printer you may have installed. This is acheived via the File/Print Setup/Options dialog.
  • The default otherwise is controlled by the Tools/Options/Print dialog. Note - if you have existing defaults for any printers, you can override all with the Reset All button.

5. How about pivot tables

There is no "Pivot" function built into this version of Ebuyer Office Suite. We have however written a simple macro that can be used to turn column information into a pivot table (or cross-tabulation). To see an example, download and open the following spreadsheet:

pivot.aws

To use the code in this example for all spreadsheets:

  1. Open pivot.aws
  2. Select Tools/Macro/Macro Editor
  3. Open up the code in the pivot.aws Macro Module
  4. Select all the code and Copy
  5. Paste into the Application Macro Module

The macro "Pivot" can now be used in any spreadsheet.

6. Best Fit Line/Regression Line Example

Series of data points, you need to fit the best line through the middle of the data. This can be calculated using the FORECAST function. See example spreadsheet:
