1. What are the full import/export options?
For a full list, visit our Import/Export Functions List
2. How can I import MS Works files?
Ebuyer Office Suite can import and use files from Microsoft Works. The way this is done depends on the application (spreadsheet, word processor, database) and the version of Works the files were created in.
Note that some of the actions described below will require that Ebuyer Office Suite's import/export filters are installed - if you downloaded Ebuyer Office Suite and haven't installed these, run the download wizard.
Importing a Microsoft Works Word Processing File
Ebuyer Office Suite can open directly Works word processor files from Works version 2.0 (DOS) and Works version 3.0 (Windows). Select File/Open and change "Files of Type" to Other Files (*.*). Select the Works file from the list (you may need to change folder to the see the file).
Note: at the time of writing, we are not sure whether this procedure will work for Works 4.x files. If this does not appear to work for you, you'll need to export the file in Works into a format that Ebuyer Office Suite supports. You could use Rich Text Format or Microsoft Word as export formats.
Importing a Microsoft Works Spreadsheet
Ebuyer Office Suite does not support the MS Works spreadsheet format. You must use Microsoft Works to save the file in a format that Ebuyer Office Suite can import. This will depend on your version of Works as follows:
Use the Works export option to create a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file. You should use the Excel 5.0 or later format if available since Ebuyer Office Suite can open these Excel files directly with full support for formulas. If you can only save it as an Excel 4.0 or earlier format then Ebuyer Office Suite will import the data only (i.e. text, numbers and the results of any formula).
In the Ebuyer Office Suite Spreadsheet, select File/Open and the change "Files of Type" to either Excel (xls) or Lotus 1-2-3 (wk*) depending on the format you saved as in Works.
Importing a Microsoft Works Database
You can't import a Microsoft Works database (.wdb) directly into Ebuyer Office Suite. You must use Microsoft Works to save the file to one of the file formats that Ebuyer Office Suite can import first.
- Open the database using Microsoft Works.
- On the File menu, click Save As.
- In the Save File As Type box, select dBASE IV, and then click OK.
- Import the dBASE IV .dbf file created in step 3 into Ebuyer Office Suite using File/Import when running the Ebuyer Office Suite Database.

4. How do I open an Ebuyer Office Suite file in program "xyz"
Usually, you will be required to export the file before the third-party program ("xyz") will be able to read it. This process, and the formats to choose, depends on what type of Ebuyer Office Suite file it is...
Write
You must export the file in a format that the program "xyz" can read. Many third-party word processors can read Microsoft Word files, which is worth a try if you are not sure what formats are supported.
Ebuyer Office Suite Office has built-in support for Excel 95/97/2000/XP.
Working with Word Files in Ebuyer Office Suite Write:
To Open - Select File/Open and set "Files of type" to Microsoft Word (*.doc)
To Save - Select File/Save and set "Save as type" to Microsoft Word 95 (*.doc)
Spreadsheet
You must export the file in a format that the program "xyz" can read. Many third-party spreadsheet programs can read Microsoft Excel files, which is worth a try if you are not sure what formats are supported.
Working with Excel Files in Ebuyer Office Suite Spreadsheet
To Open - Select File/Open and set "Files of type" to Microsoft Excel (*.xls)
To Save - Select File/Save and set "Save as type" to Microsoft Excel (*.xls)
Database
Ebuyer Office Suite Database 2000 uses the same format as Microsoft Access which is a good start.
Ebuyer Office Suite's database file format can be used directly by Microsoft Access 95/97.
If you want to send a database to an Access user, it may be less confusing for them if you rename the database file extension. E.g., if you copy the database to the floppy drive, use Windows Explorer to make the A: drive current, right-click over the database and select Rename. Keep the file name but change the extension to "mdb".
If you want to send a table from a database to an Access user, you should first create a new database to hold the table. Follow these steps:
a) In Ebuyer Office Suite Database, select File/New and enter myexport.mdb as the filename (you can use whatever name you want - just make sure you give it an mdb extension).
b) Re-open your database with the table to be exported. Right-click over the table and select Export. Select the "Microsoft Access Database" type and pick the new file you've just created (myexport.mdb in above case).
The end result is a Microsoft Access database containing a single table. You can repeat step b) for as many tables as wish to export.
Otherwise, you'll need to save each table as a separate file. In Database, select File/Export, pick a Database format (dBASE III is widely accepted by many other third party programs) and then choose the table you want to export. Repeat this process for each table you want to export.
5. Error message on opening a PDF file in Ebuyer Office Suite
PDF is specifically designed by Adobe for viewing and printing documents. It is not designed as an editable file format. If you create a PDF file in Ebuyer Office Suite, it cannot be edited. You will need to edit the source document and resave the PDF.
Please note that you if you attempt to open a PDF file in Write, you will get the message W107F32W.DLL not found. Write is trying to find a filter to open this format but has failed (in fact, the filter does not exist).
6. Freeze after save to PDF
Check that the PDF driver is not paused. See Start/Control Panel/Printers. If Ebuyer Office Suite PDF Convertor shows anything other than "Ready", right-click over it and correct.
